Village of Hope Hospice is a 19-bed, resident care facility committed to providing holistic, patient-centered care to all our patients. This involves a team-oriented approach to medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support that are tailored to the needs of each patient. Our 24/7 operations are run by a team of trained Jamaican Practical Nurses who work under the direction of our licensed Jamaican Physician.
Hope Hospice opened its doors in 1997 under the management of Good Shepherd Foundation. A few years later a partnership agreement was signed with The Brenda Strafford Foundation. Since 2018, Village of Hope Hospice has been run solely by Village of Hope Limited, a registered charitable organization in Jamaica incorporated in 2010 (registration #CAIN100NR-60C) as a part of The Brenda Strafford Foundation. The hospice was initially established to support dignified end of life care for HIV, cancer, and other palliative patients but has evolved to also provide continuing care support for residents with longer term care needs.
Operated by Canadian Vision Care and Lions Club of Montego Bay, the Community Vision Centre of Excellence at BSF’s Village of Hope in Montego Bay provides primary, secondary, and surgical eye care services on a charitable basis.
The Brenda Strafford Foundation Eye Centre in Roseau provides ophthalmology consultation and surgical services at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital, which is the only large acute care hospital in Dominica. The BSF Eye Centre is operated and managed by the Government of Dominica.
The BSF Eye Centre was initially established at the Princess Margaret Hospital in 1986, and was relocated in 2022 to the new Dominica-China Friendship Hospital (constructed on the site of the Princess Margaret Hospital).
Four primary care medical clinics built by BSF enhance access to important health promotion and disease prevention services. The clinics are operated and managed by the Government of Dominica.
