Success is often measured in milestones: years in business, professional achievements, or financial growth. But for Brad Currie, Broker and President of Residential Leasing Group (RLG), the true measure of success lies in something less tangible and far more enduring— the impact we leave on others.
A lifelong Albertan, Brad was raised with a powerful set of values: work hard, act with integrity, and help those around you. In his family and neighborhood, service was not viewed as an obligation but as a natural part of belonging. Over time, those early lessons became a guiding principle—one that continues to shape both his personal life and professional leadership.
Leading by example
As father of three daughters, Brad sees giving back as more than an act of generosity; it is an opportunity to model the kind of values he hopes will guide the next generation.
He wants his children to understand that a meaningful life is not defined solely by what we achieve for ourselves, but by how we contribute to the well-being of others. Through community involvement, he hopes to demonstrate compassion, respect, and healthy relationships—showing that true strength is reflected in how we care for one another.
I remember being involved with local organizations since childhood. It was always rewarding to see how my efforts could make a positive impact in someone’s life. We sometimes underestimate the amount of good we can do. If that means helping ease the burden for even one person or one family, it matters.
Why calling a place your safe home matters
That belief led Residential Leasing Group to partner with Heart Home Network, supporting women and children after domestic violence. For Brad, the connection is a natural extension of the work his company has done for the past 40 years.
A safe home is more than a shelter. For some families, home is not a place where they feel safe. It is only when safety and trust are restored that healing, independence, and hope can begin to take root.
We wanted to work with an organization that provides housing support for vulnerable members of our community because we are in the housing industry. I know how important it is for everyone to have a safe place they can trust and call home.
For families escaping violence, that safety can be life-changing—offering the stability to begin again and the opportunity to imagine a future beyond just surviving.
Celebrating 40 years by giving back
This year marks a significant milestone for RLG: 40 years serving Calgary landlords and property owners. Rather than celebrate solely by looking back, Brad and his team chose to mark the occasion by investing in the future of others.
Their response is the 40 for 40 initiative. Throughout 2026, RLG will donate $40 to Heart Home Network for every new property added to its portfolio. The commitment extends beyond financial support. Team members will also contribute 40 hours of volunteer service, reinforcing the company’s belief that meaningful change is built through both generosity and action.
For Brad, the initiative reflects a simple philosophy: milestones are most meaningful when they create opportunities for others.
A community responsibility
While Brad hopes the initiative will help families find safety and stability, he also believes it carries a broader message. Preventing domestic violence is not solely a women's issue—it is a community responsibility.
Business leaders, fathers, neighbours, and friends all have a role to play in fostering cultures where respect, dignity, and healthy relationships can thrive.
I do my best to be a good husband to my wonderful wife of 21 years and a good father to my three daughters. I believe we can raise more awareness if I can inspire more fathers to rally behind this cause.
His perspective highlights an important truth: lasting change happens when more people see themselves as part of the solution.
The legacy we leave
For Heart Home Network, supporters like Brad do more than fund programs and infrastructure. They sustain the critical work that helps families after domestic violence. Their generosity supports families rebuilding their lives, children growing up in safer environments, and communities working together to break cycles of violence.
Ultimately, the legacy we leave is not measured by what we accumulate, but by what we make possible for others.
Through leadership, service, and a commitment to community, Brad Currie and Residential Leasing Group are helping build something that will endure far beyond any business milestone: a future where more families have the chance to heal, thrive, and call home a safe place once again.
