As a charitable organization we are an innovative force, providing high quality person-centred care and services to optimize well-being and enrich people’s lives. With your support, together we can advance this mission and further transform the quality of life of those who benefit from our care and services in the communities where we operate.

When you support The Brenda Strafford Foundation, you are supporting:

  • Exemplary care and services for the senior residents, clients, and families we serve in our seniors care communities. Find out more about our seniors care programs >>
  • Research that drives innovation, evidence-based best practices and new knowledge to positively impact the future of seniors care and living. Find out more about our research and innovation >>
  • Safe housing, programs and services that empower vulnerable members of the local community facing domestic violence and homelessness to live a life that is free from crisis, abuse and insecurity. Find out more about our local charitable programs >>
  • Access to desperately needed, high quality and affordable health care services abroad in some of the poorest areas of the Caribbean. Find out more about our international charitable programs >>

'Going Places' Bus Campaign: The Brenda Strafford Foundation

The Brenda Strafford Foundation is raising money for accessible buses to facilitate recreational outings in the local community… Going places that create life-enriching experiences and enable our senior residents to live life to the fullest. 'Adventures, Discovery and Purpose' Virtual Reality Campaign: Bow View Manor (Adult Day Program)

Virtual Reality technology designed specifically to engage, stimulate and teach seniors is bringing new and exciting experiences to The Brenda Strafford Foundation's seniors programs across the city. The Foundation is the first seniors care provider to offer Rendever’s VR system in Assisted Living and Long Term Care in Canada, with plans to expand the program to all of our Manors. Bow View Manor's Adult Day Program is currently fundraising  through their 'Adventures, Discovery and Purpose with Virtual Reality' campaign.

International Charitable Programs

Pre-consultation and Patient Education Area at The Institut Brenda Strafford: Haiti

The Institut Brenda Strafford works as a family, united in its charitable mission to provide high quality, person centered professional Ophthalmology and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) services to enrich the lives of people in Haiti. Providing services in Les Cayes, Haiti since 1982, the Institut strives to be the first choice of Ophthalmology and ENT health care for our communities, providing cost-effective services in order to improve the clinical outcomes of those we serve.

As the largest specialty eye and ENT facility in the country, patients come from all 10 departments throughout Haiti, some travelling as much as 12 hours, to receive care. For these reasons, starting from their initial consultation and carrying through to the very last treatment, our team of 100+ employees dedicates themselves to ensure every patient receives high quality, compassionate care. Through these efforts, each year we treat over 55,000 patients and perform more than 1,700 surgeries. With your support, we can continue to provide this valuable care to those who need it most in Haiti.

Every day, The Institut sees over 250 patients. However, The Institut has outgrown our current space, which forces patients to stand in long lines and wait in overcrowded rooms. Our new Pre-consultation and Patient Education Area will create the space needed to provide our patients and staff a dignified environment in which care and services can be provided. Furthermore, this new space will have multiple functions as it will also serve as a conference and large meeting area for our 100+ person staff.
