Building on decades of healthcare partnerships in the Caribbean, The Brenda Strafford Foundation works alongside governments, healthcare organizations, universities and community partners to strengthen sustainable eye and ear, nose and throat (ENT) care.
Our approach goes beyond individual services. We support initiatives that strengthen local capacity, improve systems of care, build evidence and expand access to specialized services over the long term.
Through long-standing partnerships and locally based programs, BSF supports specialized healthcare and stronger systems of care across the Caribbean.

BSF has supported healthcare in Dominica through investments in eye care and community health infrastructure, including the Brenda Strafford Foundation Eye Centre and four community health centres. These facilities are operated and managed by the Government of Dominica.
BSF collaborates with regional partners to strengthen eye health systems, share knowledge and advance coordinated approaches to improving access to eye care across the Caribbean.
In October 2025, the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission, in collaboration with The Brenda Strafford Foundation, launched the Regional Eye Health Strategic Plan Project.
The project takes a regional approach to understanding eye health needs and strengthening equitable access to eye care across OECS Member States. The work will inform a regional eye health strategy focused on areas including equipment, standards of care, screening, referral systems and access to specialized eye care.
A collaborative approach to eye health across the Caribbean
The Brenda Strafford Foundation is a founding member and co-chair of the Caribbean Eye Health Alliance, established in 2023 to bring together organizations and individuals working to address eye health and vision needs across the Caribbean.
Through collaboration, knowledge sharing and coordinated action, the Alliance works to strengthen collective efforts to improve eye health across the region.
Through Impact 2030, we are advancing initiatives that build on our experience and partnerships to strengthen sustainable eye and ENT healthcare across the Caribbean.
BSF is collaborating with the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) to strengthen eye health across the region, including work to establish a regional strategy, improve equipment and standards of care, strengthen screening and referral systems and expand access to specialized eye care.
Through Institut Brenda Strafford in Les Cayes, Haiti, we are supporting the expansion of specialized healthcare services, including retina and maxillofacial surgery, radiography, AI-assisted eye screening and long-term infrastructure planning.
Reliable medical equipment requires people with the expertise to maintain and support it. BSF is working to increase biomedical engineering capacity across the Caribbean through short- and long-duration training opportunities for biomedical engineers and technicians.
We work with universities, researchers and other partners to strengthen the evidence available to healthcare leaders and support informed decision-making and best practices for eye and ENT health in the Caribbean.
