Accreditation Canada

The Brenda Strafford Foundation: Exemplary Standing

The Accreditation Standards support The Foundations' ongoing quality improvement activities, and the Accreditation Canada Qmentum Program standards have been fused into our day-to-day operations. Accreditation Canada deploys surveyors every four years to audit The Foundation’s compliance to the national standards.

In the most recent audit held in April 2018, an Exemplary Standing (the highest level) was achieved by The Foundation.

Qmentum Accreditation Program

Accreditation Canada is an independent, not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the quality of health care systems in Canada and across the globe through the rigorous process of accreditation. The Qmentum Accreditation Program is designed to focus on quality and safety throughout all aspects of an organization`s services — from governance and leadership to direct care and infrastructure — to the benefit of patients, clients, residents, staff and volunteers.

There are four sets of standards at the core of the program:

  1. Governance
  2. Leadership
  3. Infection Prevention and Control
  4. Medication Management

In the spirit of respect, reconciliation and gratitude, we honour and acknowledge that our services are provided on the traditional territories of Treaty 7, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy comprising the Siksika, Piikani and Kainai First Nations, the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda First Nation including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Good Stoney Bands. These territories are also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 3. We are grateful for the many First Nations who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. We acknowledge that we have ongoing responsibilities to protect, honour and celebrate all of life within our shared communities.
